VAMFF recap: Grand Showcase

Dark romance.

Last night saw Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman deliver a deeply romantic collection as they took to the runway for this year’s Grand Showcase. Their runway was split between daywear and eveningwear, although the label is known for blurring the line between the two.

An entirely wearable collection was delivered. The label showcased reworks of long-term favourites, an updated colour palette and an exploration denim for the new season.

As expected, evening silhouettes were modern yet elegant, contouring the body in an expert manner. It was contemporary, sleek and cool; a balance that Camilla and Marc continues to strike so well. There were also darkly romantic influences present, seen across the label’s use of faux fur and lace.

Daywear saw a rework of the white shirt, alongside an increased use of texture and layers. The label’s signature blazer was also present, given a masculine update for the new season.

A string orchestra opened and closed the show, adding impact to an otherwise accessible collection.
