So Cindy Crawford isn’t actually retiring from modelling?

We’re still confused.

So you may have heard the rumour mill swirling this morning, with the news of Cindy Crawford’s reported retirement.

We’ll be honest, we were a tad surprised. Don’t get us wrong, we knew she was doing a lil somethin’ somethin’ here and there (including this beauty for Balmain) but she did officially retire from full-time modelling in 2000. So we were a little unsure of why everyone is harping on.

In a recent interview in United Airline’s Rhapsody magazine, Crawford shared some deets about her current plans:

“I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore. And that’s OK. I’ve done it. I’ve worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can’t keep reinventing myself. I shouldn’t have to keep proving myself. I don’t want to.”

So that kind of sounds like she’s announcing her retirement from modelling, which was a little confusing because we kinda thought she already had (read: retirement in 2000).

Cinds has since cleared up the speculation this morning in an Insta post, writing:

“Every year, I tell my kids I’m retiring. It’s a running joke in our family. And yet every year, opportunities pop up that really excite me. While it’s true that I’m eager to shift my focus a bit to concentrate on my businesses, friends and family — I’m not making any final statements (not all headlines tell the whole story!). I have loved being part of the fashion industry for the past 30 years — and if that time has taught me anything, it’s this: never say never. Thanks for all the support, I’m so excited for what 2016 holds! xo Cindy”

While a shift away from modelling may be true, it looks like retirement could be a while off yet. Even though she’s already retired. (Yep, we’re still confused).

We don’t blame her for wanting to keep on working. Maybe one day we can model for Balmain at age 50 too.

Never say never.
