Oscar Wylee is donating all today’s profits to World Sight Day

An eye for an eye.

In case you weren’t already aware, today is World Sight Day. The event aims to bring attention to the 270 million blind and visually impaired people throughout the world.

If you’re in need of new glasses, today is also the day to buy them. Oscar Wylee will be donating 100% of in-store and online profits to its charity partner, Sight for All, for today only.

Sight For All found there was an increasing stigma around vision loss, particularly in aboriginal communities. They seek to start discussion around vision impairment, reducing the stigma and bringing attention to an issue that is preventable in most cases.

Chief executive of Oscar Wylee, Jack Teoh said: “Combating preventable blindness is an important goal of mine. With vision impairment cases growing around the world, creating conversation surrounding World Sight day addresses important facets of the vision care crisis and is a chance to educate the public on blindness prevention.”

All today’s proceeds will fund an upcoming Australian children’s eye screening program, as well as a film about the impact of blindness on individuals.

So what are you waiting for?
