Meet the YouTube activist who is the new face of Abercrombie & Fitch

Girl knows what’s up.

Abercrombie & Fitch was once recognisable for its overtly sexualised marketing and shirtless men, but that’s all changing and it’s for the better.

Around a month ago, thre retailer announced specific plans to rework its branding. By July 2016, gone would be the sexualised campaigns and dark stores in favour of more inviting shops and a better customer experience.

And now the next step in the re-branding.

In a particularly smart move, Abercrombie has tapped British model and YouTube activist Neelam Gill for their latest campaign.

Google Gill and you’ll quickly learn she was the first model of Indian heritage to star in a campaign for Burberry, this year she walked in Kayne’s own Yeezy Season 1 and is rumored to be dating that guy who isn’t in One Direction anymore. But there is so much more to this girl.

The 20-year-old has become a vocal activist, discussing issues like racism and bullying. In a series of “rants” on her YouTube channel, Gill has openly spoken about her personal experience of being targeted because of her race in school and her struggles with depression.

Gill also uses the platform to talk beauty standards in the media and the impacts they have on people. We recommend checking out her channel, as her messages are pretty damn important.
