McQ x Ophelia Finke for SS15

Enter the McQ lab.

McQ has collaborated with artist Ophelia Finke on its latest spring campaign. The Central Saint Martins graduate has created an installation especially for the campaign that evokes the feeling of being in a very strange and fascinating lab.

The artist credits both the prestigious school and designer Alexander McQueen for the invaluable opportunity and for her career path.

“Alexander McQueen was the reason I applied to study at Saint Martins and I am a long-term fan of the house, so I was delighted to work on this commission,” said Finke.

“I feel that collections from both McQ and McQueen create new ‘worlds’ that their wearers inhabit, exactly as I do.”

The evocative shoot references the marble quarries found in an Italian town. Models sit strangely statuesque in the middle of eerily-placed sterile items that are tested and injected by scientists. Tyres, coats and Styrofoam objects are placed seemingly randomly around the room giving the campaign amazing depth.

CSM graduates are renowned for their original, forward thinking and this shoot is no less to McQ’s high standard of exactly that.
