St Vincent: Masseduction

St Vincent gets personal.

Annie Clark is an elusive musician who uses archetypes and characters to render her creative concepts with clear vision.

This time around however, things get a little more personal.

The process of educing her life and loves from a lifetime’s worth of text messages and voice memos has resulted in a light lyrical touch on serious matters like sex, power and death.

Musically, it’s pure St Vincent – jerky and guitar heavy, and favouring layered synth that builds to an exultant crescendo.

The songs come down again, breathing heavily with the weight of the happy effort.

If only revisiting all of our histories resulted in something so beautiful.
