Book review: Fashion is Freedom

Her story is inspiring.

Now a swimwear designer in the US, Tala Raassi grew up in Iran.

At 16 years old, she went to a friend’s house; there were boys there and she was wearing a mini skirt. Because of this, Tala was sentenced to forty lashes with a leather-braided whip. This is only the beginning of Tala’s story – one that’s about more than just a girl who suffered at the hands of her government.

Fashion is Freedom tells of a woman who remained steadfast in the face of adversity and oppression, and who held firmly to her beliefs of what is just and right.

Her story is inspiring, not because of what she experienced but because of her rebellious spark, passion and conviction throughout.
