6 apps to instantly improve your fashion game

*Downloading cute style*

If you’re not already completely addicted to your phone and don’t rely on it for literally every daily activity, I have a few questions for you.

Firstly, how do you get through life? What is the first thing you do when you wake up if you don’t check your Instagram? Without your daily horoscope, do you just literally wait the day out to see what happens? How do you know how many steps you walked? What do you laugh at without a constant flow of memes? Are you sad?

Most of us mere mortals simply need our phone, from the minute we wake up, to the minute we go to sleep. We use it to distract ourselves from waiting in line, and we use it to precisely order food when we’re drunk, so it arrives at the exact same time we’re getting out of the Uber.

Really, the only thing we don’t use our phone for is getting dressed; we do that the old-fashioned way. But imma bout to change that.

Here are six apps that will improve your wardrobe, help you get ready quicker, track down mystery pieces that make you swoon and just up your fashion game all-round.

Stylebook

Cost: $5.99

An outfit book is something stylists’ put together for their celebrity clients when they go to St. Barts and can’t bear the thought of deciding what to wear on the beach everyday. The stylist will polaroid everything in the celebrity’s wardrobe that suits the theme, and then create collages for every look in a neat (giant) photo album.

Stylebook tells me I get the exact same experience for the price of a “latte or gossip magazine” – I just have to do all the work, lol.

Once you recover from the panic attack of having to photograph and upload every single item of clothing and every accessory into the app, things start looking up. You can create full looks for work or nights out, put together packing lists for upcoming holidays, browse inspiration when you have *nothing to wear* and basically be one of those people that seem to have their life together.

Wheretoget

Cost: Free

If you, like me, are always spotting girls in nice outfits but are too shy to go up and ask where they bought their jacket from and would prefer to troll the internet for days at a time and lie in bed awake at night thinking about it, Wheretoget is the app for you.

It’s got a suspiciously similar layout to Instagram, and just like everyone’s favourite procrastination tool, you can follow friends, build your own follower base and personalise your feed.

Most importantly though, you can use it to post a picture from Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, or a sneaky shot of the girl in the street, and the Wheretoget community will tell you where to buy it from. Or at least they try to. Bless.

ShopStyle

Cost: Free

Overwhelming, fun and addictive, it’s possible to lose hours of your life trawling through ShopStyle while you lie on the couch, half-watching The Bachelorette out of the corner of your eye. You can literally browse through 18 million products across fashion, beauty and home and before you know it, you’ll be 106 years old.

ShopStyle brings together some of the world’s best brands from Gucci to adidas, and lets you shop them all at once. It’s labelled as a “one-stop style shop” and my God, they are not kidding.

You can even explore curated recommendations tailored to your taste. So generous.

Villoid

Cost: Free

Let’s be honest: everyone wants to be a little bit more like Alexa Chung, and so Villoid was born – an app she co-founded with a few other nameless people that have been grouped together by the word “team”, so obviously don’t have nearly as much star power.

Villoid is a *shopping app with a twist* where you can shop, discover, follow, share and comment.

The best part though comes in the form of a style board – a mood board function where you can pick an item, create your own looks around it, research different ways to style it, then buy it, when you’ve fallen so madly in love you couldn’t live another day without it hanging in your closet.

Carousell

Cost: Free

From eBay to the Camberwell markets, let me tell you: I have tried everything to sell my clothes. I am practically drowning over here, and yet, no one will take them.

In my last attempt to make some sweet cash money, I turned to Carousell – the Instagram/eBay hybrid for hoarders and bloggers with too many unwanted gifts. Whether it was the fact I leveraged my Instagram followers, I wore the clothing in the photos, or I priced everything just right, either way, it actually worked.

The downsides? It’s time-consuming, bad quality imagery just doesn’t cut it, and people are kinda cheap (they really don’t want to pay that $10 postage).

LIKEtoKNOW.it

Cost: Free

You’ve probably used this app before, or at least come across its unnecessary tricky spelling on all your favourite blogger’s post. It’s super clever and very easy to use. So easy, in fact, it can be summed up in three steps:

Step 1: Download the app
Step 2: Screenshot your favourite blogger, celebrity and influencer photos on Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat etc. etc.
Step 3: LIKEtoKNOW.it will email you with the products featured in your screenshots and, in a dangerous twist, you can buy them right there and then from the app. Magic.
